Materials In Works
The inception of Materials In Works (MIW) was marked by an ambitious goal to counteract the adverse impacts of global warming and environmental degradation. By reintroducing residual paper liner into the production value chain as recovered cellulose pulp, MIW presented a solution that both benefits the environment and addresses raw material needs of local paper manufacturers. In Malaysia, the pressing issue of rapidly filling landfills is becoming increasingly evident. On average, an individual produces over 35kg of waste every month, which eventually finds its way to the landfills. To compound the problem, the label packaging sector alone accounts for a staggering 500 tons of paper liner waste monthly. Given the paper’s silicone content, it’s classified as solid waste. It’s evident that the challenge of escalating landfill waste, both in Malaysia and the wider Southeast Asian region, requires urgent attention. Materials in Works (MIW) offers a promising solution to this crisis.
